What is #Datestodon?

#Datestodon is a hashtag on the fediverse/Social Web. It is meant to help people discover potential romantic partners who might be compatible and in their general geographic area.

How does it work?

There's two ways to take advantage of the #Datestodon tag.

• You can post an ad to the hashtag
• You can also read through and respond to other people's ads

Posting an ad

First, take an inventory of who you are, and what you're looking for. If you're looking for just friends, you might wanna check out using the #Friendstodon tag, instead.

You'll use the following form for your post:

#Datestodon #[AGE][ME]4[YOU] [Description]

Where [Description] is a blurb about yourself that you want to share with anyone potentially interested in you, and where [AGE], [ME], and [YOU] take the following values:

• AGE: your age
  • Y: Young Adult (18-29)
  • A: Adult (30-49)
  • O: Older (50+)
• ME: your gender and/or presentation
  • F: Feminine
  • N: Non-binary / other
  • M: Masculine
• YOU: the gender and/or presentation of the potential matches you're searching for
  • F: Feminine
  • N: Non-binary / other
  • M: Masculine

Note that if you identify within multiple of the gender categories, or if you are searching for multiple genders, you can use multiple codes (e.g., #YF4F and #YF4N, for a femme looking for other femmes and non-binary folks).
